British tornado Sonay Kartal sweeps away Burel!

Clara Burel was eliminated in the second round of this 2024 edition of Wimbledon. The Frenchwoman, ranked 45th in the world, fell victim to the surprising Sonay Kartal in two hours, 15 minutes and three sets (6-3, 5-7, 6-3).

The Briton, ranked 298th in the world, is taking everything in her stride. After beating three players ranked much higher than her in qualifying, she dominated Romania's Sorana Cirstea, ranked 31st in the world, in the first round (3-6, 6-2, 6-0). She will now take on Burel on Wednesday.

In the third round, she moves on to a higher level of adversity, as she takes on Coco Gauff.
