Fritz after the United States qualified for the United Cup semi-finals: I feel like I'm back in the rhythm of my late 2024

In recent hours, the USA have become the second country to qualify for the United Cup semi-finals after Kazakhstan.

After Coco Gauff got the better of Zhang Shuai, it was Taylor Fritz who brought the point that definitively sealed the fate of this quarter-final against China by dominating Zhang Zhizhen (6-4, 6-4).

After his victory, the world No. 4 reacted to his performance: "Coco had done a great job to give us the lead, and she gave me the opportunity to qualify in this second match.

There was a bit of pressure because I didn't want to be the one to lose when Coco had won all her matches this week.

I played a really solid match and I'm very happy with that. I feel I'm getting stronger and stronger with every match, and today's was clearly a step in that direction.

I feel like I'm back in the same rhythm as at the end of 2024. I'd made a lot of progress in my game and I was beginning to think that my average daily level was sufficient to beat many of the top players in the ranking.

Before, when I played against those guys, I felt I had to play incredible tennis to win," asserts the last US Open finalist.

In the last four of the United Cup, the USA will face the winner of the final match between Italy and the Czech Republic on Friday January 3.
