Cazaux, confident and determined ahead of Roland Garros: "I want to go as far as possible".

Cazaux, confident and determined ahead of Roland Garros: I want to go as far as possible.

We remember it, and it was terrible. On April 15, during his first round in Barcelona, the young Montpellier player violently twisted his ankle. Posting a photo in which the swelling of his ankle could be compared to a tennis ball, he explained on Instagram that he had a fairly severe sprain and hoped to return for the French Grand Slam.

Today, he has done just that. Against all the odds, he has won his race against the clock. In an interview with Tennis Actu, he smiles: "Whatever my physical situation, I'm going to show up on court with the knife between my teeth. I want to go as far as possible in this tournament. I'm going to give it everything I've got on the day".

Without masking his determination, Cazaux nevertheless explains that he will have to play with ankles: "I'm going to respond in my own way".

This somewhat premature return to competition raises the risk of an unfortunate relapse. Asked about this, he explains: "Normally there's no risk, even if I'm still in a bit of pain".

Inspired by Nadal, whom he hopes to face before the latter retires, he too is ready to give his all on the court. Now it's a question of putting his words into action, as a serious challenge awaits him in the first round on Tuesday, when he takes on Etcheverry (ranked 29th in the world and a finalist in Lyon).
