Cazaux looks back on his illness in Miami: "I was in hospital for 24 hours on a drip".
After a good run at the Australian Open, where he reached the Round of 16 for the first time, Arthur Cazaux experienced another significant episode in his season.
During qualifying for the Miami Masters 1000, the Montpellier native fell ill against Harold Mayot, causing concern.
In an interview with FT Sports, the world No. 64 recalled the incident: "I scared myself because it was the first time I'd ever had a vagal malaise.
I was a bit surprised, but at the time I didn't feel anything when I was on the court. It wasn't a very violent fall either. Afterwards, it's true that I wasn't feeling well for a while", Cazaux began.
"What people don't know is that I had a relapse on the way back to the changing rooms and that's when I went to hospital.
I was there for 24 hours, on a drip. They ran a whole range of tests on me. In the end, my heart was fine and I had no particular worries.
The doctors thought I was suffering from severe dehydration and cumulative fatigue. It's not a great memory, and it kept me off the courts for a month.
On my return match, I injured my ankle in Barcelona. It was a very negative period.
For two and a half months, I wasn't really able to be on a tennis court, which slowed me down a bit, but that's part of being at the top level.
I've tried to bounce back, and I've had a season of ups and downs. I hope to be more consistent next year."
