Cazaux confides: "I was able to see the role the media could play".
Arthur Cazaux is a promising player. After suffering numerous injuries during his teenage years, the right-hander has turned a corner this year.
130ᵉ at the beginning of the year, he revealed himself to the general public at the Australian Open, where he reached the last 16, notably eliminating Holger Rune, 8ᵉ world player.
Still defeating Ben Shelton at the Paris-Bercy Masters 1000, the Montpellier native finally ended the year at a promising 63ᵉ world ranking.
Despite this, some consider the 22-year-old Frenchman's performances to have fallen short of expectations, not least due to immense media pressure following Cazaux's Australian epic.
In an interview with We Are Tennis, Cazaux commented: "I've seen how much space the media can take up. It's going to be very useful for me in the future if I get any more big results, because I think it cost me a lot of energy. Maybe it was a bit too much after Australia.
I thought the media were getting a bit carried away with my case. Sinner and Alcaraz are light years ahead of me. With my level of play, I can set myself some great goals, like getting closer to the top 30. And I hope to be ready... No, I WILL be ready for 2025."
