After 2nd round victory, Rublev withdraws from Metz!

Despite qualifying for the quarter-finals of the Moselle Open, Andrey Rublev has withdrawn from the tournament.

The Russian, who qualified for the Masters after Novak Djokovic withdrew, cited an "abdominal injury" as the reason for his withdrawal from the Metz tournament.

He had beaten Lorenzo Sonego in two tight sets (7-6, 7-5) in his opening match.

This withdrawal seems somewhat unfair to the organizers, who were certainly hoping that Rublev would at least play his quarter-final match before heading to Turin.
