Djokovic back in Shanghai: "The reaction was phenomenal".

Le 12/09/2024 à 10h00 par Elio Valotto
Djokovic back in Shanghai: The reaction was phenomenal.

Is Novak Djokovic afraid of missing the Masters?

Currently in 9th place at the Race, the Serb needs points if he is to make it to the last major event of the season.

After skipping last year's event, Djokovic will indeed play in the Shanghai Masters 1000 this season (October 2-13).

When asked about this eagerly-awaited return to China, tournament director Michael Luevano said: "Novak sent a message to all his fans in China announcing his return, and the ticket office, already overloaded, was put under pressure.

The reaction to his return has been phenomenal."

I wonder what actually motivates Novak to continue play? One more slam? Put the youngsters in place (again)? More money? Federer left, Nadal is leaving and fading, Murry is gone. Djokovic is not in a physical state to quit just yet but what drives him?

The passion and love for the sport.

Yes the love for the sport is the finest explanation. I also think that may be the reason. I got the question because if we think of a guy like Novak who has been so successful, a very strong drive must also be the winner instinct. But when you have won it all and broke almost all records there should also be something else. Love. We do however have no clue of what goes on in his mind. It could be so that he's processing the option to retire. But meanwhile we should enjoy his game, Novak fan or not.
