Djokovic Breaks Federer's Grand Slam Record After Victory Over Norrie at US Open

Novak Djokovic has stated numerous times that he now wants to focus intensely on Grand Slams. The 38-year-old Serbian is the player with the most Major titles but has been stuck at 24 since his US Open win in 2023, two years ago.
A semifinalist in the first three Grand Slam tournaments this season, the former world number one qualified for the round of 16 in New York late Friday night into Saturday, after a four-set victory over Cameron Norrie (6-4, 6-7, 6-2, 6-3).
As good fortune never comes alone, Djokovic won his 192nd Grand Slam match on hard court, becoming the sole record holder for the most wins on this surface in Majors during the Open Era.
Before his match against the British player, the Serbian was tied with Roger Federer (191). A ten-time Australian Open winner and four-time US Open champion so far, the Belgrade native has secured another notable record.
It is worth noting that Rafael Nadal (144), Andre Agassi (127), Pete Sampras (116), Ivan Lendl (105), and Andy Murray (100) are the other players to have reached 100 match wins on hard courts in Grand Slams.
On the same occasion, Djokovic qualified for his 69th second week (meaning a round of 16 qualification) in this category of tournaments, tying the absolute record previously held by… Federer (also 69).
