Djokovic drops a set to Basavareddy but qualifies

Novak Djokovic faced American wild card Nishesh Basavareddy in the first round of the Australian Open.

To everyone's surprise, he lost the first set 6-4. It's the first time he's lost the first set in the first round of the Australian Open since 2006.

However, he made up for it afterwards, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2. The step was too high for Basavareddy, who cramped up during the match.

Despite his defeat, he confirms his good progress and should be in the top 100 very soon.

Djokovic, meanwhile, has now won 72 consecutive Grand Slam first-round matches. He faces qualifier Jaime Faria in the second round.
