Djokovic: "He played very well and was in top form".
Novak Djokovic is succeeding in his gamble. Injured at Roland-Garros, he is now set to play in the semi-finals of the English Grand Slam, despite being widely tipped to miss out on Wimbledon.
In his first few rounds, he mastered Holger Rune perfectly in the round of 16 before taking advantage of De Minaur's withdrawal in the quarters, qualifying without playing.
As he prepares to face Musetti in the semi-finals, Djokovic commented on the Australian's withdrawal in style: "Obviously, it's not good for the tournament, and it's never good to miss a round because of a player's withdrawal. I wish Alex all the best during his recovery, and hope he can get back on the court soon.
We all saw that he injured himself on the last point. I was watching the replay of that point, trying to figure out where he had injured himself. Some were trying to guess whether it was his ankle, hip or knee.
So I wish him a speedy recovery. He was playing very well and was in great shape, it would have been a really tough game for both of us if we'd played. But that's the way it is and I'm in the semi-finals."
