Djokovic: "Nadal can do what he wants, he's a legend in our sport."
Novak Djokovic was at a press conference in Monte-Carlo on Saturday. The Serb spoke about Rafael Nadal's current attempt to return to competition. The world number 1 explained that he had no more information on the Spaniard's physical state of health than anyone else. But he hopes to see his greatest rival back, at least for the French Open.
Novak Djokovic: "It's the question of questions. I don't know if Rafa will be able to compete again. Nobody knows that information better than him, his family and his team. It's always important for tennis to have Rafa on the courts, and especially this year, which may be his last chance, his last Roland-Garros, the last season of his career.
It's a shame to see him withdraw from all these tournaments since the start of the season. I don't know what the situation is with his body. But, more than anyone else, he has the right to do what he wants. Because he's a legend in our sport.
As a tennis fan, I hope he'll be able to come back and, at the very least, play on his favorite clay, at Roland-Garros."
