Djokovic withdraws from the Madrid Masters 1000!
Novak Djokovic will not be playing in the 2024 edition of the Mutua Madrid Open (April 24 - May 05). The world No.1 officially announced this Saturday, also stating that his withdrawal was not due to a medical reason. As was the case last year, he will be content to play on the clay courts of Rome (May 8-19) to fine-tune his preparations for the French Open.
Djokovic's withdrawal means that Jannik Sinner will be seeded n°1 for the first time in a Masters 1000. Frenchman Luca Van Assche also benefits from the withdrawal to enter the final draw directly.
