For Rusedski, Swiatek cannot be considered a favourite at Wimbledon: "Swiatek is not one of the favourites for the title".
Although brilliant on hard court and simply untouchable on clay, Iga Swiatek has far fewer references on grass.
With Wimbledon just around the corner, there is much debate as to whether the world number 1 is a favorite. While some see her status as such, others see her as a cut above some of her rivals.
This, for example, is the view of Greg Rusedski, former world number 4, who doesn't see the Pole as a favorite for the title in London:
"For Coco (Gauff), let's be honest, on grass against Iga (Swiatek), she's licking her chops. She says to herself: 'It's now or never for me'.
And I think Brad Gilbert has done a great job with her, and I think they're thinking, 'OK, we didn't play at our best in the semis at Roland Garros. But now we've got Wimbledon coming up, which is our chance after winning the US Open last year.'.
I hope Coco is up to the task at Wimbledon and has a real chance of winning. There are other names, like Rybakina, Sabalenka and other players on grass.
So Wimbledon is wide open. When it comes to Wimbledon, Swiatek isn't one of the favourites for the title.
