Fritz after Musetti: "The things I want to do against him work better on a fast court"
Taylor Fritz spoke after his victory against Lorenzo Musetti at the ATP Finals.
The American won without trembling 6-3, 6-4, successfully starting his campaign in Turin. Facing an opponent tired from his recent final in Athens, the 28-year-old player won in 1 hour and 42 minutes of play. Interviewed on the court, he stated the following:
"The things I try to do against him work better on a fast court. Whereas the things I try to do on a slow court are difficult to execute. He obviously beat me at Wimbledon, but I feel like the grass also helped him a bit, because he was just blocking the ball back, forcing me to always bend low and preventing me from hitting through it.
I find this court to be fast. When he hit short balls, I was able to take advantage. I didn't need to hit those kinds of balls full power to put him in trouble and stay aggressive."
A finalist last year, Fritz will be keen to do just as well this year. Furthermore, with this victory over the Italian, he levels their head-to-head record at 3-3.
