Après une 1ère manche conclue par un tie-break à rallonge (12-10) dans lequel il a sauvé 4 balle de set, l'Américain a pris le dessus sur le Suisse qui a clairement marqué le pas. En huitièmes il affrontera Lehecka, tombeur de Dimitrov.
