Fritz says it all: "I've made a lot of progress in my game".
Taylor Fritz takes on Jannik Sinner in the Masters final this Sunday. Author of a magnificent season, the American could once again be stopped by the best player on the planet.
Beaten by Sinner in the US Open final and then in the group stages of the same Masters, Fritz is hoping to prevent such an outcome from happening again. Interviewed in the press conference, he explained that he was aware of the challenge, but still believed in his chances: "In the US Open final, I just tried to stay alive. The match we played here, I didn't feel like that. I was much more comfortable at the back of the court. I had my chances in that match. I had chances to break him in both sets.
He had just as many chances, and he took them. He played the big points better than I did in the group stage match. I didn't feel the match was as lopsided as it was in New York. He's the best player in the world. He plays with a lot of confidence.
That's something you can expect from him, that he plays the big points very well. I've made a lot of progress in my game. For me, the most important thing at the US Open was that I didn't really play well. I didn't serve well.
If I don't serve well, my chances are slim. That's the key to my game.
