Garcia is impressed by Swiatek's tennis: "She's the best player in the world at the moment".
A few hours before her first match at Roland-Garros (against 145th-ranked qualifier Eva Lys), where she will once again be hoping to thrill the Parisian public, Caroline Garcia reflects on Iga Swiatek's level of play. While she hopes to take advantage of a rather clement draw to go very far in Paris, the French No.1 had some very complimentary words for the queen of the WTA circuit.
While the admiration is hardly surprising, the Frenchwoman's little tactical analysis is well worth a look: "Iga is usually a little above us, especially in recent years. She covers her ground well. It's difficult to win points against her. Her forehand has more lift than most of us and spurts a bit more, so the ball is taken more over the shoulder. What's more, she's starting to serve better and better, at 180/185, whereas she used to serve less hard. I think a combination of all that makes her the best player in the world right now."
