Gaston wins the Brest Challenger by beating Spizzirri
Hugo Gaston, still in the running at Brest, had been forced to withdraw from the Rolex Paris Masters. Invited by the organizers for the qualifiers, the Frenchman continued his journey in Brittany.
In the final, he faced Eliot Spizzirri. Unfortunately for him, the match started very poorly, with the first set conceded 6-2 in just 28 minutes of play.
But the trend was completely reversed with the same score inflicted, this time by Gaston, in the second set.
There was then no suspense in the decisive set as Gaston dominated. Thanks to a double break, he won the set 6-1.
This title will provide a nice consolation for Gaston, who was unable to participate in the Masters 1000 in his home country.
