Gauff prepares her revolution: "Her serve will become a real weapon" according to Rick Macci
Titled at Roland-Garros and Wuhan, a finalist in Madrid and Rome, Coco Gauff had a solid 2025 season. But the American also continued to struggle with her serve: with 431 double faults, she broke her own record (430) set in 2024.
To remedy this weakness, Gauff turned to Gavin McMillan, a biomechanics specialist, known for contributing to the transformation of Aryna Sabalenka's serve.
"Her serve will become a real weapon"
According to former coach Rick Macci, these new technical directions should allow Gauff to approach 2026 with a more complete version of her game, as he explained on X (formerly Twitter):
"Coco will be a different player in 2026. Her serve will become a real weapon, her forehand will be more compact, and her overall strategy will be more focused on controlling the center of the court.
She already has the best defense on the tour, and with these adjustments, she will very clearly get closer to the world number one spot."
