"He exploited his abilities to the maximum in every match," Corretja analyzes Alcaraz's 2025 season
Carlos Alcaraz ends the 2025 season at the top of the ATP rankings. The Spaniard had an exceptional season that was crowned with success. Winner of eight titles in 2025, the 22-year-old player reclaimed the throne from Jannik Sinner after the US Open.
A situation that only reinforces the already marked rivalry between the two men. Before seeing them continue to engage in thrilling battles in the coming months, Alex Corretja analyzed the season of his young compatriot.
"It did him good to recover from his defeat in the Wimbledon final"
"This year has been exciting, because both Alcaraz and Sinner played at an even higher level. I think Carlos (Alcaraz) demonstrated that when he is fit and stable mentally, emotionally, and especially physically, he is practically unbeatable.
He is a very powerful player who exploited his abilities to the maximum in every match. What he accomplished by winning so many titles, especially the Roland-Garros final, is incredible.
I think that him winning it is almost a miracle, which he achieved thanks to his determination and great strength, and which he then confirmed by also winning the US Open. It did him a lot of good to recover from his defeat in the Wimbledon final against Sinner, where the latter seemed to have found a way to beat him tactically and mentally.
"Alcaraz stopped making as many unforced errors against Sinner"
The major titles were shared, since Jannik (Sinner) also won the Australian Open at the beginning of the year, and the Masters final once again sets the stage for Sinner and Alcaraz to be the dominant players of 2026, with the exception of a few players who could certainly challenge them.
They both hit very hard and make very few mistakes. I think this is one of the greatest balances that Alcaraz found in 2025: he stopped making as many errors and unforced errors against Sinner, who always imposes a very high pace, playing at full throttle, always at 100%.
That's why I think it's a very good rivalry for tennis, which makes it very interesting," assured Corretja in an interview for Eurosport and relayed by Tennis365.
