Humbert: "I'm not afraid to play Alcaraz, I can beat him".
Ugo Humbert takes on Carlos Alcaraz this Thursday in the last 16 of the Rolex Paris Masters. He knows he won't have an easy task against the Spanish phenomenon, but he's not defeatist about it. The Frenchman believes in his abilities and his chances of beating the world No. 2.
Ugo Humbert: "The problem with Alcaraz is that he plays well (laughs). He plays very well, he does a lot of things. He has that presence on the court. And he has so much technical and tactical potential that you never really know what to expect. He's also very intense.
I'm very happy to have won my first two matches so that I can play Alcaraz on Centre Court. It's the kind of game I love to play.
I'm not afraid of playing the best players, I'm capable of beating them. So I'm really happy to be playing against him.
I'm looking forward to the atmosphere. We played each other in the Davis Cup, and he had all the fans with him. He played very, very well. But this time, it'll be completely different.
I'm going to try and take them (the French fans) with me. I hope they'll push me like never before. I'm going to give it my all to try and snatch victory."
