"I am very happy to see you back after your childbirth," Noskova's first words after her defeat to Bencic in Tokyo
Linda Noskova was defeated in the final of the WTA 500 in Tokyo by Belinda Bencic.
Noskova will not win the second title of her career at this Tokyo tournament. The 20-year-old Czech, ranked 17th in the world at the start of the week, was stopped by Belinda Bencic (6-2, 6-3).
During the trophy ceremony, Noskova congratulated her opponent of the day, who returned at the end of 2024 after giving birth to her first child and who will be ranked 11th in the WTA rankings this Monday.
"I just wanted to thank you for your support. Obviously, today was not my day. But all congratulations to Belinda (Bencic). She played incredibly well throughout the week and today as well.
I am very happy to see you back after your childbirth. It's a real achievement. I truly admire you in more ways than one. It was a great experience, even though I didn't have much luck today playing against you. But congratulations and good luck for the future," Noskova stated on the court according to remarks collected by The Tennis Letter.
