I could hardly breathe anymore and I didn't know where I was," Atmane explains his withdrawal in Shanghai

Térence Atmane was forced to retire against Camilo Ugo Carabelli after playing 8 games in his opening match in Shanghai.
On his Instagram account, the Frenchman explained his withdrawal: "Today, after the first point of the match, both of my hands started trembling.
I thought maybe I was more stressed than usual. After the second game and a comfortable 2-0 lead, I felt my whole body shaking and I was suffocating on every point.
This led me to a state where I could hardly breathe anymore and my head started hurting.
I felt like, no matter what I did, I couldn't breathe. I called the physio immediately but no words came out of my mouth. I was panicking, I was shaking.
It was impossible for me to remember where I was, or to tell you what day of the week it was. My body sent me a signal, to stop immediately.
I'm still confused about what happened today and I don't remember much.
The heat stress I faced today could have been worse than losing consciousness for an hour and having an elevated heart rate.
It's time for me to take some rest before heading to the final tournaments of the season. See you soon. Térence.
