I didn't believe I could reclaim the world number 1 spot before the US Open," says Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz reclaimed the world number 1 spot following the US Open by defeating his great rival Jannik Sinner in the final.
Speaking to Marca, he reflected on this episode and stated that he didn't really put pressure on himself for this goal.
He says: "Before the US Open, I didn't really believe I could regain the top spot. It was a goal, but I was far from it. I didn't dwell on it. Little by little, we did our job, closing the gap with Jannik.
At the US Open, I understood that everything depended on me. I didn't put pressure on myself, I just played my tennis and ended up achieving it. It came naturally, thanks to daily and calm work, without unnecessary rush.
