"I kind of lost track of when the final is—before, it was always on Sunday," Sinner comments on the Toronto and Cincinnati format
Jannik Sinner has qualified for the final of the Cincinnati Masters 1000, where he will face his great rival Carlos Alcaraz.
When asked about the new format adopted by Toronto and Cincinnati, the Italian was critical: "It's a question that isn’t really relevant to answer now, because we’re already here.
Personally, I love one-week tournaments. I love the Monte-Carlo tournament, for example, with its first-round matches, which are incredibly good. And if a seeded player loses, the next match is just as incredible.
Now, I’ve kind of lost track of when the final is, because before, it was always on Sunday.
Now, here (in Cincinnati), it’s Monday. In Toronto, it’s Wednesday or Thursday. So it’s tough, even for us players. We lose a bit of playing time, I’d say," he stated in comments relayed by Ubitennis.
