"I went to Portugal to disconnect from tennis," Draper gives an update after his left arm injury

Absent from the tour since the US Open, Jack Draper will make his return at UTS London in December, before starting the 2026 season with the United Cup and the Adelaide tournament in January.

Draper will soon return to competition. Injured in his left arm during the season, the Brit, currently world No. 10, has played only three tournaments since Roland-Garros. Beaten in the second round of Wimbledon by Marin Cilic, the left-hander then withdrew before his second round at the US Open against Zizou Bergs due to his injury.

Since then, Draper has not played a single match, ending his ATP tour season as early as September. While he will make his return next month at UTS London, the Indian Wells Masters 1000 winner gave an update in an interview.

"My injury was very difficult to accept, especially after working so hard in all other areas. I felt like this injury was beyond my control. I started to feel something in Madrid this year.

I played through the pain until Wimbledon, where I had an MRI that revealed a bone bruise on the humerus. I tried to continue training to play the US Open, but I had to withdraw before the second round and take some rest.

Sport has its ups and downs. I was on an incredible run, my tennis and physical condition were constantly improving. Adversity always makes me stronger, so I try not to stagnate and move forward. I took the opportunity to look to the future.

I hope the best years of my career are still ahead of me, I'm 23 years old. Tennis takes up a lot of your time, so it was great to take my first holiday in ten years. I went to Portugal to relax and disconnect from tennis, while keeping my body in good shape," Draper assured Tennis Majors.
