If he spent less time on advertisements...": Italian NGO criticizes Sinner's Davis Cup withdrawal

Sinner is under fire in Italy. CODACONS, a local NGO, is questioning his commitment to the country, accusing the player of prioritizing economic and advertising interests over national sports representation.
Jannik Sinner continues to be targeted in Italy. His withdrawal from the Davis Cup finals (November 18-23) has sparked significant media coverage and criticism from former Italian tennis stars.
This time, it's CODACONS, a local NGO focused on protecting consumer and citizen rights, that has released a scathing statement about the Wimbledon champion.
The organization demands that official awards given to the San Candido native be immediately revoked:
"Following Jannik Sinner's refusal to participate in the Davis Cup, Codacons demands the withdrawal of all official awards and honors given to the tennis player.
Sinner's decision to refuse participation in the Davis Cup is an affront to Italy, Italians, and millions of tennis enthusiasts.
Every athlete has the right to decide for their own career and to prioritize economic interests over those of the country they represent. But this choice must be carried out consistently.
We demand that all honorary distinctions and institutional awards given to him be revoked, whether it's his appointment as ambassador of sports diplomacy by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, his Gold Collar of Sports Merit awarded by CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee), or his honorary citizenship of the city of Turin.
If Sinner spent less time filming advertisements, regardless of the product in question, he might be better able to represent his country in the world of sports and beyond.
Maybe the name will change tomorrow like many do.
Then what 🤡🤡
What country are you a slave in?
Says a lot about Italians.
