"I'm doing everything to try to stay in my bubble," says Swiatek after advancing to the second round of the US Open

Iga Swiatek did not falter in reaching the second round of the US Open. The world No. 2 from Poland dominated Emiliana Arango (6-1, 6-2) and will face Suzan Lamens for a spot in the round of 16.
After winning titles at Wimbledon (ending her year-long title drought in the process) and Cincinnati, Swiatek has responded to her success and clearly regained confidence in this second half of the season. The 24-year-old player simply hopes to stay focused on what she needs to do on the court.
"The first matches are always a bit different, but I'm glad I had some time to adapt to the playing conditions and the surface, because it's definitely different from the practice courts.
I think I played a solid match, and I'm happy to get to play another match here. In 2022, I didn't play very well from the first round. It was probably the toughest Grand Slam; I had to overcome many obstacles, but I managed to win the tournament.
But here, it's complicated every year. New York is a noisy city, and it's hard to find a good balance off the court. I'm doing everything to try to stay in my bubble.
The level of comfort is hard to describe because the tournament is very long. You're here for three weeks (she played mixed doubles and reached the final with Ruud last week). Of course, every day is different.
I'm satisfied with my performance in Cincinnati, and I'm trying to take as many positives as possible from that experience. There are a lot of positive vibes in the team, so I guess everything is fine," Swiatek explained to Punto de Break.
