Insolite - The French can't keep their hands off Shelton!
Ben Shelton will face Arthur Cazaux this Wednesday evening on Court Central, in the second round of the Rolex Paris Masters. The American was due to face Jannik Sinner, but the world number 1 is ill (virus) and has had to withdraw from the Paris tournament.
This will be Shelton's fourth consecutive match against a French player. In Basel, he beat Arthur Fils in the semi-finals (6-3, 7-6) last Saturday, before losing to Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard in the final (6-4, 7-6) on Sunday. Then, in Paris-Bercy, he made it through the first round, emerging victorious from a very tough battle against Corentin Moutet (6-3, 6-7, 6-3) on Tuesday.
Cazaux will therefore be looking to redress the balance of these Shelton vs. France encounters, which is currently 2-1 in favor of the world's 19th-ranked player.
