ITF President Defends Davis Cup: "There Are More Players Than Ever"
The current format of the Davis Cup has not stopped sparking reactions. Just recently, Alexander Zverev called it an exhibition. The new ITF president, Ross Hutchins, wanted to defend the competition.
He told Reuters: "We also have to listen to the nations, and we have received considerable support. This year, there have been more players than ever before… a very large number of nations are taking part in this competition and, as a result, we also have to take that aspect into account.
We maintain close relationships with the other tennis governing bodies and the players. We are willing to discuss any topic that comes to their mind."
