Jonathan Eysseric says stop: "A beautiful page is turning"
Jonathan Eysseric announced his professional retirement on his Instagram account this Wednesday. The Frenchman had reached the final of the junior Australian Open and had a career that looked promising.
A 202nd place in singles
His best singles ranking was a 202nd place in the world in 2013. But he had a more prolific career in doubles with 21 Challenger tournaments won.
On his Instagram account, he stated: "I hesitated for a long time to write these lines, but I wanted to thank everyone who followed my journey closely or from afar. It has been an extraordinary journey.
A journey that was first and foremost a family one: golden parents who always supported my dreams, and my little brothers running in the stadium aisles, sneaking onto every free court to hit a few balls.
Thank you to all my coaches, who gave their time, energy, and passion to push me toward the best version of myself. Tennis allowed me to travel the world, to have incredible encounters, endless trips, to experience indescribable emotions.
The opening of a new chapter
But it also confronted me with very difficult moments: distance from loved ones, injuries, defeats, doubts… All these stages that remind you that sometimes, the body and mind can say stop and that there is life after this sport for which you gave so much.
After my second elbow surgery in a year, I made the decision to end my professional playing career. A beautiful page is turning. The next chapter looks exciting. Can't wait to share my upcoming projects with you."
