Sebastian Korda is in Olympic form.
Having missed out on the Olympic Games, the American has been in exceptional form over the last few days. After winning the title in Washington last week, the 24-year-old continues his excellent form.
An authoritative winner over Taylor Fritz (6-4, 7-6), Korda first took advantage of Ruud's withdrawal before getting the better of an Alexander Zverev who was clearly not yet fully fit physically (7-6, 1-6, 6-4).
With his bluffing efficiency on the important points, the American toppled another top seed in a tournament where Rublev is the only player with protected status still in the running.
For a place in the final, he will face Popyrin tonight (not before 2 a.m.).
