Mboko dreams of a match against Sabalenka: "Who wouldn't want to face her?"
The women's circuit, as every year, has seen several young players emerge during major events. One of them, Victoria Mboko, 18 years old, had a sensational run in Montreal - in front of her home crowd - to clinch her very first career title.
"Who wouldn't want to face the world number one?"
During this dream week, the young Canadian scored wins over Coco Gauff, Elena Rybakina, and Naomi Osaka in the final. And at the very end of the season, after a period of doubt, Mboko dominated in Hong Kong, securing her place in the top 20 (18th).
Asked by Match Point Canada about the players she would like to face in 2026, the protégée of Nathalie Tauziat gave the following answer:
"I'm going to say Sabalenka. She's the world number one. Who wouldn't want to face the world number one? It would be nice to play her. It would be a great experience, so why not?"
The date is therefore set for next season.
