Daniil Medvedev and Learner Tien were competing for a spot in the final in Beijing against Jannik Sinner. The match started off well for the American, who led by a double break.

But the Russian managed to recover his lead and win the first set 7-5. He then continued in the second set by breaking his opponent's serve right away.

After being broken in the 7th game, Medvedev managed to recover his break immediately. However, Tien, not giving up, broke the Russian again before breaking him at 5-5.

He took the second set 7-5. Medvedev then went to the locker room for a long time to recover but started the final set with cramps.

Warned for lack of competitiveness, he went to explain himself to the chair umpire and the tournament supervisor. Trailing 4-0 and barely able to run, he had no choice but to retire.

Tien thus qualifies for the Beijing final where he will face Sinner.

Struggles with injuries and lack of money: the double punishment for tennis players far from the Top 100 stars

A tennis player's income depends solely on his sporting results. In the event of injury, the daily life of those far from the Top 100 can become extremely complicated.

The impact of the war on tennis in Ukraine: financial aid, foundations, governing bodies and all‑round headaches

Since February 2022 and the invasion of Ukraine by Russia, Ukrainian sport has been heavily affected by human, structural and economic losses. Tennis has, of course, not been spared. While Ukrainian athletes have had to rethink their entire organization, an entire country, behind the scenes, has had to adapt and change its training conditions. This extends all the way to the highest level, where professional players have spoken out, trying as best they can to help their nation.
As a laboratory for tomorrow’s tennis, does the Next Gen Masters have a future?
As a laboratory for tomorrow’s tennis, does the Next Gen Masters have a future?

Conceived as a bold bet to prepare for the post–Big 3 era, the Next Gen Masters has shaken up the codes of modern tennis. A pioneering, visionary tournament, but now in search of an identity.
The paradox dividing tennis: exhausted players and a saturated calendar, yet ever more exhibitions

Exhausted but omnipresent stars, ever-longer tournaments and exhibitions that have become a business in their own right: tennis is revealing its deepest contradictions, torn between spectacle and physical survival.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
