Medvedev: "I don't think we'll stay in touch with Gilles Cervara"
It was one of the standout duos on the ATP tour. Together, Daniil Medvedev and Gilles Cervara wrote a remarkable chapter in modern tennis: a US Open title, the world number one ranking, and six Masters 1000 titles. But after eight years of collaboration, the two parted ways on August 31st.
In an interview with the Russian media outlet Msports express, the 29-year-old player stated:
"We are not in contact, it's a closed chapter for both of us. We got along very well, but I don't think we'll stay in touch. Maybe we'll talk at tournaments. On the phone? I don't even know if he'll write to me. He probably will. We'll see."
Since then, Medvedev has begun a new collaboration with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke. The former notably coached David Goffin and Caroline Wozniacki, while the latter was part of the staff for Richard Krajicek and Mario Ancic.
