Medvedev stopped his losing streak and reached the quarterfinals in Hangzhou

Daniil Medvedev quickly found his rhythm in Hangzhou, winning his first match since his coaching change with a convincing performance.
Medvedev didn't miss his start at the ATP 250 tournament in Hangzhou. Seeded number 2 in China, the Russian was playing his first match since ending his collaboration with Gilles Cervara, who had been his coach since 2017.
Facing Nishesh Basavareddy in the round of 16, the world's 18th player, now working with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, won in straight sets (6-2, 6-3 in 1h15).
A relief for the 29-year-old player, who had been on a three-match losing streak on the main circuit, including one at the US Open against Benjamin Bonzi. Seeking his first title in over two years (Rome 2023), Medvedev now advances to the quarterfinals.
He will face the winner of the duel between Sebastian Korda and Wu Yibing for a chance to reach the semifinals. He could then meet Alexander Bublik, who defeated him in the Halle final during the summer, in the semifinals.
