Monfils: "I don't live for tennis anymore".

Le 03/10/2024 à 12h52 par Elio Valotto
Monfils: I don't live for tennis anymore.

Solid winner of Damir Dzumhur (6-4, 6-3) in the first round of the Shanghai Masters 1000, Gaël Monfils now prepares to challenge the tournament's number 22 seed, Sebastian Baez this Friday.

Speaking at a press conference, the 30-year-old discussed his new status as a father and what this means for him as his career draws to a close.

Very calmly, he explained: "I don't live for tennis anymore, you know.

I live, of course, for my sport, but in another way, I just want to be a father, a good family man and do my best to adapt my schedule to my time spent with my family.

My priority is to be there for my daughter, to be there for my wife and, yes, to enjoy what I do, it's my job, but just to enjoy, and that's, let's say, less pressure."
