Jo-Wilfried Tsonga has left his mark on French tennis for over a decade, reaching the final of the Australian Open in 2008, for example, and playing in several semi-finals at Roland-Garros and Wimbledon.
Despite several fine victories over the Big 3 during his career, Tsonga has never managed to lift a Grand Slam trophy.
Invited to Gaël Monfils' YouTube channel, the native of Le Mans confided on this subject: "I wasn't good enough. People start to extrapolate, but I wasn't good enough, period.
Was I good enough to go as far as I did? Yes, because I did.
As for the rest, it doesn't matter what the circumstances are, it doesn't matter what's around. Tennis has ruled: 'You're not good enough'.
It's not mental. Of course, it can happen that some players are stronger or weaker depending on their backgrounds, physically, mentally...
But in the end, what we want in a tennis player is his globality."
