Monfils will go to South America in 2026: first farewells under the sun of Rio and Buenos Aires

To begin his final year on the tour, Gaël Monfils has chosen exoticism and fervor. After Australia, heading to Buenos Aires and Rio: two symbolic stops for a player who wants to say goodbye to tennis with joy and spectacle.

2026 will be Gaël Monfils' last professional season. The Frenchman will bow out at the age of 40 and is beginning to reveal the tournaments he has chosen for his farewells.

For the start of the season, Monfils will head to Oceania like all other players, beginning with the defense of his title at the ATP 250 in Auckland (January 12-17) before playing his final Australian Open.

While the Parisian used to compete in indoor tournaments during February, La Monf has decided to head to South America, having registered for the tournaments in Buenos Aires (February 9-15) and then Rio (February 16-22).

He had participated in these two events in 2018, losing in the semifinals in Argentina and then in the quarterfinals in Brazil.
