Moore, former world No. 145, suspended 4 years for doping
Tara Moore made headlines in France for defeating Jessika Ponchet in 2019 after being down 6-0, 5-0.
Today, she’s in the news for a very different reason. The British player has been suspended for 4 years for doping by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) due to nandrolone.
The Guardian reports: "The player stated that she had never knowingly taken a banned substance during her career, and an independent tribunal determined that the contaminated meat she had consumed in the days before sample collection was the source of the banned substance."
Moore had faced a 19-month suspension before ultimately being cleared. However, the ITIA, the Tennis Integrity Agency, appealed the decision.
An appeal upheld by the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which stated: "After reviewing the scientific and legal evidence, the majority of the CAS panel found that the player failed to prove that the concentration of nandrolone in her sample was consistent with the ingestion of contaminated meat."
Moore last played in May 2025.
