Carlos Moya, Rafael Nadal's coach, was kind enough to look back at Rafael Nadal's 2024 season and what explained the Majorcan's choice of retirement.
He explained that his more than difficult draw at Roland Garros had had a significant impact: "We've always been a bit behind.
He gets injured, misses the Australian Open, tries to play Indian Wells and gets injured again.
Then the clay-court season began, for which he had prepared with few hours of training and limitations due to injury.
I think if he'd had a more accessible draw at Roland Garros, we'd have seen a change in trend.
That didn't happen."
