Musetti wants to compete with Alcaraz and Sinner: "Close a gap that was still very evident this year"
World number 8, Lorenzo Musetti has had the best season of his career. The Italian did not win a title, but he showed consistency that allowed him to compete in the ATP Finals, despite several physical setbacks that disrupted his year.
Now, the goal of the 23-year-old player is clear: he wants to get closer to the level of the world's two best players, Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, who have been sharing the Grand Slams for two seasons.
"We could see the difference between Sinner, Alcaraz and the others"
"Several images from this season continue to resonate in my head, like the Monte-Carlo final, the Roland-Garros semi-finals, or my entry into the world top 10.
But the best moment, I think, was the welcome the crowd gave me in Turin, where I beat Alex De Minaur. It was truly magnificent, hard to describe with words. This season, we could see the difference between Jannik (Sinner), Carlos (Alcaraz) and the others; they both have an edge over everyone else.
If I decided to add some important personalities to my team, it is precisely to try to take a big step in that direction, to close a gap that was still very evident this year. I hope to reach the third step of the podium in the future," Musetti assured Eurosport Italy.
