Nishikori made his return to competition after more than 3 months of absence
Kei Nishikori had not played since his elimination in the first round of Cincinnati last August 8th. Suffering from a back injury, the Japanese player was initially scheduled to return for the Tokyo tournament.
Unfortunately for him, the recovery period was extended and he was only able to make his return this week, at the Yokohama Challenger. He successfully started his campaign by beating Taisei Ichikawa with a score of 4-6, 6-1, 6-1.
This comeback tournament will already be the last of the year for the current world number 158.
