Arthur Fils achieved his greatest career success on Sunday. At the end of a magnificent tournament, he toppled Alexander Zverev in the final to claim the title in Hamburg (6-3, 3-6, 7-6).
At just 20 years of age, the Frenchman is set to break into the world's top 20, and will even be seeded for the Olympic Games. Impressive, Fils has every right to savour, but perhaps not for too long.
At least, that's what Yannick Noah thinks. Interviewed by Eurosport, the former French Open winner declared: "It's a great story, but it's really the beginning of a story.
The Games come at a time when he's feeling confident, but I think he still has a lot of room for improvement, especially as he's a very ambitious, hard-working boy who works in a professional environment.
I think, well, after me and my passion, sometimes it takes over, but I hope, I think he's going to be very, very strong. As for his victory over Zverev, I know that for him, he's thinking: 'It was good, but it's just a stage'.
For him, it's almost been swept away and that's good, he wants to go further. He's going to be our standard-bearer for a long time to come."
