Pourtant très en forme sur la terre battue sud-américaine en février, le Britannique n'a pas réussi à faire de même sur l'ocre monégasque. Il a été dominé en 1h11 et 2 petits sets par Cerundolo qui retrouvera Berrettini au 2e tour.
