Ostapenko reflects on her Stuttgart title: "I knew what was going to happen"

Eliminated in the first round in 2024, Ostapenko this time reached the Stuttgart final to claim her first title of the season against Sabalenka (6-4, 6-1). During the week, she delivered another standout performance by defeating four-time Roland-Garros champion Swiatek in three sets (6-3, 3-6, 6-2).
Though her season had given no particular indication of success in Stuttgart, the player admitted she had a premonition before the tournament began:
"I didn’t tell anyone, but as soon as I arrived here, I knew what was going to happen this week—I felt I was going to win the title. I see myself playing better and better every day, I’m extremely confident, and I believe I deserve results like this."
A champion in Paris in 2017, the Latvian player hopes this result will give her the confidence she needs to perform at her best at Roland-Garros.
In the second round of Madrid, she will face the winner of the match between Pavlyuchenkova and Sevastova.
