Paire is back in the news: "It's inadmissible".
A few days after making news by being humiliated in less than 40 minutes in the first round of the Rennes Challenger (6-1, 6-0), Benoit Paire has suffered the wrath of several French consultants.
Sarah Pitowski, a consultant for RMC Sport, was particularly outspoken in her harsh comments about the Frenchman, whose motivation is increasingly in question: "Benoît Paire's behavior, beyond the fact that he's injured, whether it's a false excuse or an attempt to sugarcoat things, is unacceptable.
It's up to him if he's on the other side of the world, but to behave like that in a French tournament, which has an impact on the tournament's image and which is also run by a former player he knows (Nicolas Mahut).
This can have consequences at a time when we're struggling to find partners who will donate money for these tournaments, so that young French players can go and get points to climb the rankings.
This is unacceptable and should even be sanctioned. We know, for example, that at the ATP, when some players pretend to play because they're actually injured, sanctions are imposed.
And this behavior of blowing kisses to taunt everyone... When he was ranked 30th in the world and was in Bercy, ok it makes you laugh, but this doesn't make me laugh at all. It's unacceptable."
