Paire: "The tennis is there, but my head's gone".
Benoît Paire is in a very delicate period of his career. With a negative record of 11-30 in 2024, the Frenchman is looking for confidence.
His wild-card at the Lille Challenger was a good opportunity to win some matches and regain his confidence.
Unfortunately for him, he lost in the first round to lucky loser Tom Paris in three sets. He also got very angry with the chair umpire on several occasions.
He said on his Instagram account after the match: "When it doesn't feel right, it doesn't feel right. I'll try to stay a little positive despite these frustrating defeats.
The tennis is there, but my head is giving out on me at the moment in the important moments. Fortunately, I'm less stressed than I was when I was 20," Paire finally quipped.
