Paolini Absent from Media Day in Riyad: "She's Not Feeling Very Well," Reveals Errani
Jasmine Paolini did not appear at the press conference for the traditional Media Day in Riyad. The Italian will begin the doubles tournament this Saturday with Sara Errani.
Having qualified in recent days for the WTA Finals in both singles and doubles, Paolini will start her tournament in the Saudi capital this Saturday in doubles alongside her regular partner, Errani, facing the pair Asia Muhammad/Demi Schuurs before playing against Aryna Sabalenka this Sunday for the first day of singles.
However, the 29-year-old player was not with Errani at the press conference in recent hours. An absence that raises questions, and it was her doubles partner who provided an update on her friend before their first match together in this tournament.
"Unfortunately, she is not very well, but it's better for her to rest to be in the best condition. She is not feeling very well, but I am sure she will be at her best in this tournament.
It is very positive to be back here, we are very happy. We know the conditions a little better, which are quite particular compared to other tournaments. They are not our favorite conditions; the ball flies and goes very fast.
We will certainly have to adapt in the best way possible. When I look at our future opponents, they always seem very strong to me. We will try to do our best," Errani thus stated to Tennis World Italia.
