Pliskova: "Girls who are not world No. 1 receive different penalties".
Karolina Pliskova, still recovering from ankle surgery, will not be playing in the Australian Open.
She spoke about Nikola Bartunkova, a player suspended for doping since May 2024, due to taking trimetazidine.
She deplores the difference in treatment: "It's terribly unpleasant to go through such an experience. You have to be extremely careful what you take.
I myself only took a few vitamins, but these substances can probably be found in any kind of meat or drink these days.
I've never taken something I didn't know about, and I'd rather suffer than take something unreasonable. I think we've seen two approaches to dealing with this problem.
Girls who aren't world No. 1 get different penalties. It's not the right thing to do. I think we can talk about it here, but it's not going to change anything."
